I was visiting a local drug store and came across a product called Mederma Scar Cream. I noticed that the scar cream had SPF in it and I immediately became interested in it. I couldn’t help myself, so I had to purchase the product so that I could do a full review of it. There are many products out there to help clear up scars and skin blemishes, so it’s important to be informed about all the products available so you can get optimal results for your money. This might be one of them. Is it the best? Well, you’ll have to read my full review to find out.
Mederma Scar Cream Review: Is It A Cheap Miracle Product?
Mederma Scar Cream has been around for quite some time, but this new and improved advanced formula works on reducing or eliminating scars, but it also protects the affected area from the sun. When we have scars, exposure to the sun can make them appear darker and look worse on your skin. This SPF30 formula offers optimal protection against sun rays as well as clearing up the scar. Some scar treatment products work on reducing scars, but not that many of them provide protection from the sun as well.
There are many ingredients in Mederma Scar Cream SPF30. The main active ingredients are purified water, PEG-4, Allium cepa (onion) bulb extract, Aloe barbadenesis leaf juice, xanthan gum, allantoin, methylparaben, sorbic acid and a fragrance. If you’re looking for a full list of all the active ingredients, here you go. There are quite a few of them. Needless to say it’s not all-natural: Avobenzone 3%, Octocrylene (10%), Oxybenzone 6% , Water, Panthenol, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Glycerin, Ammonium Acryloyl Dimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Fragrance, Squalane, Allium Cepa (Red Onion) Bulb Extract, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Methylparaben, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Ceramide 3, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, and Isobutylparaben. Should you want more insight into the specific ingredients. Feel free to contact me and I’ll gladly share my opinion on each one of them. I’ll give you an in-depth review of each of them as well.
How To Apply
Apply the Mederma Scar cream evenly and gently rub it into the scar 3 times a day for 8 weeks on new scars and 3 to 6 months on old scars. The cream should also be applied before prolonged exposure to the sun.
Most of the user reviews are positive on all the sites that I looked at. The biggest percentage of the reviews were 5 star reviews. Only a handful of reviews were 3 stars or below. The average rating on Amazon is 4 stars. I checked out some of the negative reviews and the customers usually had not used it for that long yet.
